My dealer is ready to deal on a GL1800 (he called me) ... he has 5 two wheelers and a trike in stock.

Here are the choices:

2014 Navi, XM, 7100 miles, with hitch

2015 7700 miles, passenger arm rests and highway pegs.

2018 DCT 1294 miles, No Trunk

My mind likes the 2018, newer, less miles, and DCT. But, about 1K to add trunk and none of my Gold Wing stuff will fit.

My mind's next choice would be the 2015, newer so more trade in value. Would need to add a hitch, I'm not wild about the blacked out lower part.

My heart loves the 2014, really low miles, love the color scheme, has a hitch, and Navi.

Some more info:

2014 and 2015 have pretty much the same asking price and the 2018 is $4K more. The dealer called me, he wants to thin his GW inventory and is willing to deal on any of them. The three I'm interested in, he took in trade, so no consignment to get approval on.

I'm gonna make an offer on one of them, Dealer wants my Tri, so do I, LOL ... just got it set up proper, but, I might trade it for a lower maintenance wing. thought process is ride two wheels for two years, then, have Randy trike it.

So what do you think?

I like the 2014. They are all virtually new bikes. I don't care for the black/red color scheme of the 15. The DCT would be nice but I would sure miss the top box. So that makes the price differential even more. Then start adding tax and installation and you're closer to 6K more for the DCT bike.

I rode Goldwings for over 30 years. Switched to my first 3 wheeler, a Spyder RTL for 3 years. Circumstances caused me to part with the Spyder. I still had my 2002 GL1800 so I figured I'd just go back to 2 wheels. I found, at 73 years old, that I was not as comfortable on 2 wheels as I used to be. I toyed with the idea of triking my wing but with 115,000 miles the old bike just didn't support the value of adding a trike. So, for less than the cost to trike my bike, I bought a newer one already triked and with less than half the miles. If I owned one of the bikes you are looking at, I would have triked it..... Keep us posted...... Jim

Lot easier to transport Kira 🐶 on a trike... but another 2 years? :xzqxz:

Oh Swami..... I see another work in progress coming...:wave4: :cxtv:

FYI........You have set-up your Trike just right and the way you want it. Keep it..........:Coffee:

That is a tough call. You have your Tri Glide dialed in where you want it. Are you ready to let go? Only you can make that call. I would for sure sleep and pray on the answer. Best of luck to you;)

There may be a bit of a misunderstanding ... the trade of the Fat Bottom Girl is only a maybe. I would be happy to have a two wheeler and a trike ... :D ... he'd have to give me a lot for the Fat Bottom Girl to get me to trade.

As for Kira, very easy to put the pet palace on a Wing ... and yes ... I do have a bunch of wing accessories that would look good on the 14 or 15 ... and I like doing that. But once I got it set up ... It would be so much less maintenance on a long trip. The smaller cargo space isn't an issue, I have a little trailer ... :D

The other thing, the dealer knows I like Gold Wings and he's overloaded with them no. He may accept an offer that is less than blue book ... if he accepts it ... I can pick it up and pay it off in 3-4 months with what I have saved.

I'm leaning towards the 2014 ... but I have until Tuesday to decide ... they are closed until then.

I am partial to Harleys, as you know. But the Gold Wing would not be loud, which may be a good thing for Kira.

You are like I am, you will do exactly what you want to do. Good luck on your decision and I wish only the best for you.

What to buy

Personally i would go with the 14 and not look back. Great bike, looks sharp, and just like new also.

When you are done dealing maybe post the name and location of the bikes as someone else might be interested and looking for a "like new" bike.

Good luck with your decision and keep us posted on your choice.

Kind of Where I was thinking I'd be heading ... I will keep the group updated ... I tend to low ball ... so, unless he's really willing to deal ... probably won't happen. But one day, I will hit the home run ... :D

I personally like the 2-tone look of the 2015. The black and silver add interest to the somewhat ho-hum, monotone, one-color red.

You might keep the Tri for now... just think how many times you thought you were getting to Texas to have Randy trike one for you ... unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances have popped up to prevent it.

Welp, thanks for the advice ... I called the dealer this morning ... I offered him $500 less than the asking price for the 14 ... I thought he'd jump all over it. He said he call be back soon.

Just called me back, he said he couldn't take a nickel less than the asking price ... I actually chuckled and told him he really doesn't need to deal ... $500 less than asking is exactly what the nada suggested retail price is ... especially when I would have to go get it.

I think maybe he was a tad PO'd about my comment that I wasn't trading the Tri ... oh well ... back to the drawing board. He said he would take $500 less on the 18, but, that wouldn't even cover the tax ... I passed.

If 500$ is gonna make or brake you....Then maybe you're just kicking tires and not really ready to or gonna buy........
